Parish History

History of the St.Thomas Parish in Seattle

The Malankara Orthodox Christian community here in Seattle started the congregation back in 1988 with four members. We were conducting a monthly service at Bastyr University in Seattle with the help of Rev. Fr. Michael Hatcher (now Cor-Episcopa) from Spokane.

We were having prayer meetings every month and we had some new members joining us in the following years. In 1999  we registered the congregation to become a church named "The St. Thomas Orthodox Church of Washington".  At this time we had Rev. Fr. James Pike to conduct our monthly service.

In 2004 Rev. Fr. T.U. Jacob joined us and we have services every week now.
